Umbral
Umbral marks the passage into a new stage in both my artistic
practice and my life. After exploring geometric abstraction, I felt the
need to break away from its structure and immerse myself in a freer,
more visceral expression. This series was born from a deep process
of introspection, driven by experiences that transformed my body
and perception: the loss of fertility after a hysterectomy and an eye
disease that altered the way I see the world.
From this umbral (threshold), I move through pain, scars, and
uncertainty, but I also discover new openings. Each piece is a
testament to this transition, where the pictorial elements reflect both
the fragility and strength of acceptance. Here, stains and materials
become a language, evoking the tension between the internal and
external, between wounds and their poetry.
This series invites an exploration of transformation through art,
crossing boundaries, and finding beauty in what emerges from the
most honest and visceral experiences.
